Wizards of the Coast has announced the manner in which they will be consistently bringing Universes Beyond cards to digital Magic: The Gathering.
Staring with this year's Universes Beyond releases, WotC will be bringing UB cards to Magic: The Gathering Arena and Magic: The Gathering Online via something the company is calling Through the Omenpaths.
"Through the Omenpaths releases will be digital sets that are Universes Within versions of Universes Beyond sets that otherwise wouldn't be coming to digital Magic platforms," explains WotC Communications Director Blake Rasmussen. "These digital cards will be mechanically identical to their Universes Beyond tabletop counterparts but with unique creative treatments, different art, and different names."
According to Rasmussen, the company will not be creating Through the Omenpaths digital sets to mirror every set released under the company's Universes Beyond sub-brand. Rather, they'll only be including the ones that are not already planned to come out on digital in any way, shape, or form.
"This lets our formats remain mechanically at parity with one another digitally without having to create patchwork solutions here or there," he says. "We are also currently only planning to create Through the Omenpaths releases for full sets that are legal in all formats."
Two of 2025's Universes Beyond sets -- Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy and Magic: The Gathering - Avatar: The Last Airbender -- are already scheduled to release on MTG Arena and Magic Online. Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man, however, as well as all future Marvel sets, are not planned for release on those digital platforms. As such, WotC will use Through the Omenpaths to bring in-universe versions of those cards to digital instead.
Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man is scheduled for release on Sept. 23 and the company says they'll have more information on the Through the Omenpaths digital cards for that set once the time comes.
