Production and shipping issues are affecting products related to the upcoming Star Trek Universes Beyond set for Magic: The Gathering.
"Select Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek products may arrive later than expected, and the exact delays vary by region," says Wizards Play Network Community Manager Nelson Brown. "Across all regions, Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs are on track for availability during Prerelease and release events."
In North America, Commander Decks are affected and could arrive after the tabletop release date for the set. For the Asia-Pacific region, Collector Boosters, Bundles, Beam Me Up Bundles, and Draft Night are all delayed and might arrive after the tabletop release date. Europe, the Middle East, and Africa are seeing the most products delayed as Collector Boosters (English, French, and German), Commander Decks (English, French, and German), Collector's Edition Commander Decks, Draft Night, Scene Boxes, and Beam Me Up Bundles are all delayed.
Store owners seem to be getting fed up with the product delays, which have become more and more frequent over the past few Magic releases.
"This keeps happening," says Ray Franks, owner of Comic Monstore in Salisbury, NC. "Maybe allow more time between release dates. But what do I know? I'm just a shop owner since 2003, that's watched release dates for a growing number of SKUs become closer and closer together."
Ian Anderson, Event Organizer for Game Trader in Brighton, CO, agrees.
"This is getting ridiculous is this just going to be an expected thing going forward," he asks. "Wizards should be pushing their release dates out and spacing sets to accommodate for production if it's this much of an issue. It is affecting the entirety of the small business side of Magic and seems to be completely ignored by the company at large."
Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek's prerelease is scheduled for Nov. 6. The set's tabletop release date is Nov. 13.
