Welcome back to Who Is on Magic Untapped as we explore the stories of characters from throughout the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. I am Barry White.
In this episode, we explore the story of not one, but two different characters found in the Magic set Homelands: Joven and Chandler.

Joven and Chandler were both notorious thieves on the plane of Ulgrotha. Joven had a reputation as a thief and cat burglar, whereas Chandler was well known as a rogue and con-man.
For Joven, he earned his reputation by strong-arming merchants and other rogues and thieves around the plane. He was best known for stealing jewelry and valuables – things he would often use his various tools-of-the-trade and his trained ferrets to assist with. He would then fence them for profit. While he was often a wanted man for this, Joven was careful to never steal from someone who would have the money and resources to actually catch him.
As for Chandler, he roamed the various towns and villages of Ulgrotha from a fairly young age. He had a knack for scams and an interest in magical toys and mechanical devices. More than once, he infiltrated the Wizards’ School on the Floating Island and stole a ring of keys that can be used to alter and change the mechanisms of clockwork creatures. Despite the Wizards’ School’s Wizard Savant placing a sizeable bounty on his head, Chander was never caught and no artifact creature was safe from his meddling.
Eventually, the two infamous thieves would meet. Both rivals and comrades, Joven and Chandler would sometimes work together on their schemes.
One such scheme brought them to Koskun Keep and its immortal King of the Goblins, Eron. Joven was personally known by Eron. Chandler, less so.
The duo used this dynamic to their advantage as they conned the immortal Eron into relinquishing to them his prized, jewel-encrusted ebony rhino. It was a theft that thoroughly enraged the man. He put a large bounty on both of their heads, though nobody within his realm – one populated by goblins, thieves, and other ne’er-do-wells would ever act on as to not upset the good thing they have going.

Now-a-days, both Joven and Chandler have been lost to legend – appropriate seeing as both of their cards are legendary creatures. It’s been centuries since their time on Ulgrotha, so it’s realistic to assume that both thieves are long gone by now.
