An error with Magic: The Gathering's new Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth bundle is causing confusion amongst both retailers and players alike.

The bundle, which includes not just eight set boosters, but also other The Lord of the Rings-themed goodies, with four traditional foil borderless Mount Doom scene cards, 40 basic land cards (20 foil and 20 nonfoil), a card storage box, two reference cards, and an oversized 20-sided spindown die for keeping track of a player's life, has an issue with one of the items found within.  Namely, the spindown die.

In all visual representation of the bundle, including its Amazon listing, official Wizards of the Coast images, and even the packaging for the item itself, a gold-on-off-white spindown die is shown.  What's being included with the bundle, however, doesn't match the visual description.  Rather, purchasers of the bundle are being given an emerald green spindown die instead.

While a seemingly minor issue overall, the differently colored die is causing confusion amongst the Magic: The Gathering community, leading Wizards Play Network member Stephen Propson to ask on social media if it were a known issue.

"...thanks for letting me know about this and apologies for the incorrect spindown color.  I'll escalate a report to the QA team for review." responds WPN community manager Nelson Brown.  "I'd also be interested in hearing if others encountered this or if this was seen across more Bundles at your store."

Other store owners responded, echoing Propson's complaint.

"Can confirm, customers at our store were wondering why their dice were all green when each box advertised a white one," states Florida-based David Bainbridge.

"We had the same issue," added Andy Kirk of the U.K.  "But our customers just shrugged and said never mind."

Others, such as Franz Torrez of Dracarys Coffee and Games in La Paz, Bolivia, thought there was more to it.

"We thought there were five colors of [dice], but at the end there is only one," he explained.

Not everybody seems to mind the color swap, however, as Hungarian WPN member Péter Baksa points out: "Nobody complains because the green one is better."
