A new way to experience the world of Magic: The Gathering has arrived as Wizards of the Coast released Magic Spellslingers for mobile devices and PC.

The company describes Spellslingers as "a digital collectible card game taken right from the Magic: The Gathering multiverse."

The game is available as a free-to-play title on iOS and Android devices, as well as for PC via Steam.

"Spellslingers focuses on hero-centric, fast-paced combat that's perfect for quick matches while still delivering the satisfying strategic depth you expect from a game designed by the makers of Magic," says the company.

In Spellslingers, players construct decks around one of the game's 16 playable characters (with more promised to come in future updates).  Each character has their own playstyle, abilities, and personality.  Upon unlocking a new character, players get immediate access to their specific 30-card deck for immediate play.  These decks can then be customized over time, or players can simply build a new one from scratch.

On iOS, Spellslingers requires iOS version 13.0 or newer.  On Android, version 6.0 or newer is required.

PC requirements are as follows:

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 560
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 12 GB available space
