Artist rk Post talks about what goes into making artwork for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game.

While that can vary from artist to artist and art director to art director, the basic premise and order of operations largely stays the same, even if the artwork itself has changed over the game's 30-year history.

"My connection to it has remained relatively consistent, but there have been different philosophies from the art direction standpoint," comments longtime MTG artist rk Post.

Magic Untapped had a chance to chat Post during the Magic 30 even in Las Vegas this past October about it.
