Too Much Magic? MTGGoldfish' SaffronOlive Talks MTG Product Proliferation

Saffron Olive joins Magic Untapped to talk about Magic: The Gathering product proliferation.

Ask just about anybody who has been paying attention to Magic: The Gathering over the past few years and they'll probably say they've noticed a drastic uptick in the number of releases.

And it's not just "normal" Magic sets, either.

It's also the increasing number of ancillary products such as Secret Lairs, Commander Decks, and special products like the recently-preordable Magic: The Gathering 30th Anniversary Edition, which Wizards of the Coast was selling for $1,000 per four-booster-pack box.

"I'm afraid that if stuff like that goes too far, it could wind up driving people away from the game," comments Seth (aka "SaffronOlive") of the popular Magic website MTGGoldfish.  "There has to be a breaking point where there's too much products for too much money."

During the Magic 30 convention in Las Vegas this past October, SaffronOlive sat down to share his thoughts with Magic Untapped on not just the increasing proliferation of Magic: The Gathering products and releases, but also on Hasbro's monetary goals for Wizards of the Coast and, of course, the Magic: The Gathering 30th Anniversary Edition product in specific.
