Final Fantasy and Assassin's Creed content is coming to Magic: The Gathering by way of the game's controversial "Universes Beyond" program.
The announcement, as reported by Polygon, was made by Wizards of the Coast president, Cynthia Williams, during parent company Hasbro's Investor Day 2022 presentation. As far as timing is concerned, Williams only said that the releases would arrive "from 2024."
Wizards of the Coast's Universes Beyond cards, which launched in 2021, have not come without scrutiny from Magic: The Gathering players who feel that, in allowing non-MTG I.P. into the game, such as The Walking Dead, Street Fighter, Fortnite, and Doctor Who, the company is cheapening the overall feel of Magic, which turns 30 next year.
